Reminiscnece 4th Progress: Candle Improvements.

In previous devlogs, I have introduced the candle as a crucial item for navigation. Since then, I've made some upgrades  after noticing the item in action on the map, to make the candle mechanic even more dynamic and immersive.

Carrying More Candles: Stack ‘Em Up!

I’ve implemented a stacking system, allowing players to pick up and store more than one candle at a time. Now, you won’t have to worry about running out of light as quickly—just make sure to keep track of your candle count!

  • How It Works: Each time you pick up a candle, it gets added to your inventory.  As you use them, they are removed from your stack. Simple, intuitive, and essential for survival.

Adjustable Light Intensity

Another important improvement is the adjustment to light intensity. Initially, the candle provided a uniform glow, but we’ve fine-tuned the brightness to make the experience more realistic and engaging.

  • Brighter at First: When you light a fresh candle, it now emits a stronger glow, illuminating your surroundings more effectively.
  • Dimming Over Time: As the candle burns, its light will gradually dim, reflecting its waning life. This subtle effect adds to the tension and makes it even more crucial to manage your candles wisely.

Fading Light Mechanic

To further enhance the immersion, we’ve added a light decay effect. The candle’s brightness won’t just decrease at a steady rate—it will weaken gradually as time progresses.
